Does this extract original embedded images?

No. It renders complete pages as they appear.

Which format is best for text?

PNG is usually sharper for line art and text; JPG is often smaller for photographic pages.

What does DPI change?

Higher DPI creates more pixels, increasing detail and file size.

Will links remain clickable?

No. An image is a visual rendering, not an interactive PDF page.
